Fall Break Friday- St. George

Friday morning we woke to major rain, so we decided to put of Zions for a while.  Instead, we drove to St. George.  We started at the temple visitor's center, where Price took this amazing picture of the temple with rain clouds- gorgeous, huh?

This was another first for me.  For all the times I'd been to Cedar City, I had never made the extra drive down.  I was kind of surprised that I really liked it there- although I'm sure that has something to do with the weather.  I would have been way less impressed with 105 degrees, I'm sure.

The temple is gorgeous, and it was fun to learn about the history of the community and temple.

Yeah... that would've been a cute picture if Emma could have kept her tongue inside her mouth! :)

Next we drove to the St. George Tabernacle, where we had a tour by a wonderful sister missionary who played the organ for us.  It was beautiful!
I didn't realize until later that I never took a picture of the whole building- oops!  We'll just have to go back someday.

By that time we were all hungry, so we stopped at Albertsons for some fried chicken, and came back to the park that is by the tabernacle to eat.  The area there is gorgeous- lots of water features and shade, and a big lawn for events.

It was a little cold to play in the water, but the kids didn't care!
We thought about going to see Brigham Young's summer home and some other church history sites in the area, but decided to gamble on the weather and drive to Zion's.  Glad we did!
