Strawberry Days

My trip overlapped with the first half of Strawberry Days, so we missed the concert... and the free strawberries and cream... and the children's parade....  Yes, my children were not super happy about that.  But we did get to go to the parade on Saturday- good thing, since Rebekah was in it.

We got smart and brought stuff to do while waiting for the parade to start.

For some unfathomable reason, I decided to take the kids to the carnival again this year.  Why can I not remember that rides cost $3-6 EACH before I get there every year?  I had $32 dollars in my wallet- used all of it to get as many tickets as I could (30), and divided the tickets between my 6 kids.  The little kids were able to go on 2 rides; the big kids went on one that cost three tickets, and then couldn't figure out what to do with their remaining 2 tickets.  Rebekah eventually decided to split her 2 tickets between the boys and let them go on one more big ride.  What a sweetheart.  But seriously- I spent that much money and the kids went on 2 rides each?  Bummer.  Amazingly, they didn't complain- at all.

This ride was hilarious, actually.  Emma and Annie got in the front car, and Ethan in the car behind them, thinking there wasn't room for all three of them.  After a minute, the ride worker put this little boy in with the girls- and he was absolutely terrified and bawling.  The girls are looking back here like, "are you kidding me?"  He cried the whole ride.  Seriously.  Someone spent $3 for their kid to scream and cry for 2 1/2 minutes.  Oh well- the girls still had fun.

I've got to figure something else out for next year... I'm too much of a cheapskate, I guess.
