This was a do-it-yourself Halloween at our house, since I put off doing anything about costumes for way too long. Here's Rebekah as a newsie,
Price and Josh as Tim- yeah, yeah, I don't know how they can both be Tim, either- but it was an extremely easy costume, okay?
Ethan the pharoah. He made that headdress completely by himself. I thought it was pretty awesome.
Emma the pirate or, as it ended up, the "adventurer". Whatever she is, she's pretty cute.
Annie the mermaid. I had no idea how to do a mermaid costume last minute, but found this idea in Family Fun. It turned out cute, but didn't make it through the ward trunk-or-treat on Saturday. She was a soccer player for the rest of the weekend.
Eliza as a cute baby! The kids were so excited for her first Halloween- I hated to tell them that she really wasn't excited about it. I mean, really-when you're a month old, what's so exciting about candy and costumes? Plus you get dragged around the neighborhood, it's cold, and everyone's loud and hyper. Yeah- she'll appreciate it more in a couple of years.
The jack-o-lanterns:
Mockingjay, by Rebekah and Ethan
"E"- by Emma
"Y" by Price and Josh
(sorry about the picture- we had an underachieving candle.)
and "Jack" by Annie
.
We had a lot of fun at the trunk-or-treat on Saturday. Good thing, because Annie woke up sick the next morning, and spent most of Halloween looking like this:
She had to miss the school parade and her class party. No fun.
We ended up taking her to the doctor on Tuesday. He diagnosed a sinus infection and bronchitis, gave us an antibiotic, and said to keep her home from school for two more days. She missed 4 days altogether.
She didn't miss out on Halloween completely- we took everyone trick-or-treating at Tim's office, where they got about 5 pounds of candy each. After that haul, we decided to hit Grandma Steele's and Grandma Shipley's and call it good.
I believe, almost two weeks later, that the candy is now gone, for which I am grateful. This year it wasn't so much the constant sugar high that I minded- it was the candy wrappers everywhere! Oh well- it's over for another year- bring on Thanksgiving!
