Anna turns 4!

I'm having a hard time believing that I don't have any children under the age of 4. It has been a very, very long time since we didn't have a toddler around.

Annie had a great birthday. We had planned for several weeks to go to the zoo today. And then it started raining... and raining... and raining.... But we got out the raincoats, boots and umbrellas and decided to go anyway! The zoo was decidedly wet, but that slight discomfort was outweighed by the fact that we pretty much had the place to ourselves. I like empty zoos. We saw lots of animals, including a scary tiger that looked ready for lunch, but my camera batteries died so I didn't come away with many pictures.

I'm hoping we don't have too many more "all pink" birthdays in our future. Maybe a couple more before the girls outgrow them. Pink cake, pink frosting, pink ice cream, pink candles... someday they'll wake up and realize that they're missing out on chocolate!

Anna's birthday is well placed: it has been 3 months since we had any kid birthdays, so new toys are appreciated. Even Ethan was getting in on the action. I think we have pretty cute kids. But I'm not exactly unbiased, am I?

I'm entering this baby phase again and you've got a 4 year old as your baby. We're going to be the old folks at this baby's high school graduation. I'm going to get mistaken for her grandma when I drop her off at Kindergarten. Just think how much sooner you and Tim will be able to serve a mission together. Why do I think these random thoughts?

Looks like a fun party, good for you guys for not letting a little rain put you off a fun zoo trip.
