Our Walker family reunion this year, put on by Mom and Dad Walker, focused on our pioneer heritage- we had the amazing experience of retracing part of the path that they walked on their way to the Salt Lake Valley. In particular, we explored their trip from Fort Bridger to Evanston.

I didn't get pictures of every stop we made, but this was a really interesting one- charcoal kilns. They would load these with timber and burn them into charcoal.
One of my favorite sights of the trip- gives new meaning to the term "porta-potty," huh? Jordan and Rollin got a lot of teasing for this, but we were SO grateful for it a couple of hours into the trip!

This one took a dusty ride in the back of Grandpa's pickup and a short hike, but it was really neat to see- Philo Dibble's name carved in the rock.
In the same area, the light streaks you can see are wagon ruts.
This arrow made of stones, a few miles west of Fort Bridger, pointed the way for the Saints to go when the trail split. Can you believe it's still there?
This was a great opportunity for our family to experience family and pioneer history in a personal way- I am so grateful for those ancestors who followed the Spirit here.
